Hiring a support worker can be a tricky thing - how do you find the right fit for yourself or for your family member? Do you post an ad on kijiji? Ask a friend of the family, or a friend of a friend? Word of mouth? Through an agency? If you're a support worker, how do you connect with families and individuals to work with?
If you're a family hiring someone who is going to be a part of your occasional, weekly, or sometimes even daily schedule, you want to know that it's going to be a good fit. Skip a few steps with us and meet a variety of workers in a casual setting where you can chat, get to know a little about them and learn whether they might be the right fit for you. Support workers will rotate between families, and share their resume, references, and availability.
Guiding questions for both families and support workers will be provided to help develop the conversation and determine fit. Resources on the hiring/employment process will also be available.
