Celebrating our Volunteers | Meet Krista Ruth Bailey
Where are you from and how did you land in London?
I am from the island of Grand Bahama in the Bahamas. I came to Canada in September of 2019 and claimed refugee protection because of the violence and discrimination I was experiencing back in the Bahamas.
Tell us about your education and professional background.
For my entire high school career I was in carpentry and construction technology. I have a certificate in electronics from trade school. I've been a photographer, electrician, alarm technician, short order cook, personal assistant and small business owner of a maintenance company.
What cause are you most passionate about?
Causes that help with education and personal development, providing housing and food for families.
Why did you want to volunteer at Innovation Works?
I wanted to volunteer at Innovation Works so I could feel useful and give of my time and talents to an organization that is community minded.
What is the best thing that’s happened for you as a result of volunteering at Innovation Works?
Meeting the different co-tenants.
